Welcome to 4th grade with Ms. Erlick, Ms. De Jesus and Mr. Gatto! This year, we will all become partners in one of the most important jobs we have – helping your child become all that he/she can be! In math, the major concepts covered are place value, addition, subtraction, division, fractions, and solving word problems. In writing, students will learn how to write narrative, opinion, and informational pieces. They will learn how to structure writing with paragraphs, elaborate on their writing by adding details, as well as using appropriate language conventions (i.e. punctuation, spelling, etc.)
In reading, students will read fiction and nonfiction texts. In fiction, they will learn how to re-tell, develop theories about characters, and think about themes in a text. In nonfiction, students will learn how distinguish the main idea and key details, summarize, and additional skills. Our goal is to find ways to work together to support your child academically, socially and emotionally. On Tuesdays, between 2:30-3:15, you will have the opportunity to meet with us to discuss your child’s progress, as well as learn about the content and strategies that your child is learning in school.
